Default Network Connection Trouble

Hey, I have a rather unusual setup for this network and I'm having trouble maintaining a connection. I have a cable internet connection connected to the modem which is then connected to the WAN port in my linksys router. From that router I have a ethernet going out to a pc, and laptops that connect to it wirelessly. I also have a ethernet cable going out to another netgear router that is plugged into a LAN port. I then have 2 pc's connecting to it thru ethernet cable, one being my own. (I live in a house with several roommates). I read that I could use this setup to have the second router act as a switch by turning off dhcp on it. So far it has worked with both my computer and the other computer. However the problem is my pc's connection will be fine ( connected) and then it will go to acquiring network address and then I loose connection. then if I disable and then reenable it, repair it, then I get the connection right back only to loose it again a few minutes later. Which is wierd because the other computer that is connected the exact same way maintains its connection the whole time. Also sometimes right after I have reenabled the connection and repair'd it, I open mozilla and have the login to the linksys router come up ( the one to access its settings). Then sometimes when I try to repair it it says failed to querry tcp/ip connection. Again this only happens on my pc. I'm sure there is something I have missed in setting this up. any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi jeff, sorry noone has replied to your post yet...(think it might be that it's one big block of text )

It sounds like you've got a faulty UTP (ethernet) cable plugged into your computer. Or perhaps even a crossover cable.

Try your cable on another copmuter, and vis versa. See if the problem is still there.
