Default AdSL Router on Cable?

Hi all, it's silly question time.
I've been given a Wireless ADSL Router with a built in 4 port ethernet switch but as I'm on cable I know the ADSL modem is of no use to me..but the question is...... 'Can I use the router purely a wireless router by connecting my cable modem to one of the switch ports along with my main computer and then wirelessly connect the kids computer to the network?'

Yes, you should be able to. You would use the wireless router like a switch box.

Ok, Now to the next question, As this router didn't come with the disc what software do I need ?. It's a Linksys WAG54G ver.1.2. I've been to the linksys website but i cant find any software downloads for it only a firmware file and the Install guides....
Networks are not my strong point so I'm kinda lost with this
Thanks
Ian

You don't need any software, you just attach it to your lan and go to the routers address in a web browser to access the settings.
