Default so nearly networked .. need help tho

okay ... I have connected the two pcs .. a and b ...

A .. has an aol connection through wanminiport usb aol ...

A .. also has an ethernet cable coming from (yes chris there was one all along ,, it was under a yellow sticker arrrgh) the ethernet socket to computer B

A and B can communicate and share printers and files etc ...

however i am lost when trying to get the internet on compter B via the connection on A

I have disabled the auto dialer (i put it on last night to use the broadband connection directly)

I have tried to follow the help hahaha help indeed files from microsoft.


Im stuck i cant pull up the internet on computer B

LOL Giles i thought it was strange that there wasnt one. What type of cable is going between the two computers?

Is the Router not in use, it would be far simpler with this.

no havent used the router ... i have a standard ethernet cable from comp A to B.

This is difficult is it not? or I am I a bit slow?

For Internet Connection Sharing you will need a crossover ethernet cable. Check what it says on the cable for me, im expecting CAT5/6 UTP.

no its not a crossover .. in the shop i was going to get one but they said no .. idiots .. i do listen to you guys

so i need one of those .. then i can continue my learning curve eh .. my brain hurts lol

ill give it all a rest today then . come back to it tomorrow .. need to relax .. i have been awake for over 24 hours now and the wee grey cells are failing lol

I would suggest you disable the modem and plug in the router, it will be a lot more simpler. And doesnt even take as long to set up as a modem as no software is 'required'.
