Default [Resolved] Gigabit running at 100mbit

So I'm confused.

I have two identical systems here. Both have 2x onboard gigabit cards.

System 1 is fine.

System 2 runs at 100mbit.

So out of frustration i take a pci gigabit card, put it in system 2 and that too runs at 100mbit. So I try the same card in system 1, it works fine at gigabit.

So I swap the cables around for the two pcs. I also swap the ports on the switch with each other. Same problems.

I'm going out of my mind here, I tried forcing the card to only gigabit but it still runs at 100mbit.

Somebody must have the answer...

click start - settings - network connections - right click on u're conection - properties - click configure button - Advanced TAB - Select Etherne @Wirespeed and make sure it's enabled, and also select Speed & duplex from the same list and make sure the value set is AUTO, WOL Speed must be set to auto also. Let me know if it works

Here are my settings:

I've tried forcing it to gigabit and using auto, neither work.

But I don't have the options you mention, THANKS for replying

What value do you have under Link Speed/Duplex mode in that properties box?

Also, could you provide the motherboard make and model number for the PC where you can't get the NiC to run at giga speed...

Hi, thanks for replying!

My motherboard is a Asus P5W DH Deluxe.

The two cards "on board" are "Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller" and "Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 PCI Gigabit Ethernet Controller" interestingly on both these under the link speed/duplex mode I don't see a gigabit option!

Under my pci card (NETGEAR GA311 Gigabit Adapter) the "Link speed/Duplex Mode" setting: I've tried the setting on both "1000Mbps/Full Duplex" and "Auto Negotiation".

Hope you can help!

Ok, I get the options to "repair" or "remove" I did a repair.

Interestingly this lead to one onboard network card working (at 100) and one not doing anything!

Just because I was driving myself mad I decided to try yet ANOTHER network cable.

Low and behold I'm now connected at 1Gbps

Sorry to waste everyones time, but thanks for holding my hand
