Default [Resolved] HELP - Local Area Connection = Limited or No Connectivity

As the title states, i have Limited or no Connectivity on my Local Area Connection which has really ****** me off. Main reason being is i use it for my Xbox 360 to go on Xbox Live, which i just paid for 12 months of it last month, then my Local Area Connection just [Bad Language Removed] up out of the blue...

I don't know much about the problem or pc's on a whole to be honest, but here's what i do know and what may be a little help to you lot

- The IP is 169.254.23.165

- The Subnet Mask is 255.255.0.0

- My connection is Wireless

- It does the same on my brothers Laptop

- This happened out of the blue, one day its fine the next it didn't work with no obvious reasons why it didn't

So please, any help at all will be appreciated

Hey Sparx,

Welcome to PCHF.

A little confused here, I'm hoping you can clarify.

You say your connection is wireless? but a Local Area Connection is a wired RJ45 connection. Your wireless connection whould actually show as a wireless connection not Local Area.

Also, what router are you connected to?

Yeh, my Xbox is connected to my PC with an ethernet cable, my Wireless Network Connection is working fine but the Local Area Connection says Limited or No Connectivity

My router is an Inventel Livebox, it think thats the router anyway...

Have you connected your xbox with a crossover cable - rather than a utp patch cable?

No, but why would the cable affect it? It has worked before with the cable i have. I had it working yesterday all day but it suddenly stopped working again...

So you reckon if i bought a cross over cable that would solve all problems?

Oh sorry, i missed the part that it had suddenly happened. A member of the tech team should be along shortly.
