Wait a sec, you wouldn't happen to have two ethernet ports at the back of your PC would you?

Ooo! I have as well! I've just plugged it into the other one and I'll just run the ipconfig again and post it here anyway and then unlup the internet from here (my desk top PC) and try again from going via the router.

Thank you!

ps... sorry, I definitely didn't receive a notification of a reply and i didn't touch my account settings!

Aw... I though that was going to be the answer but when I try to connect to the internet on my PC via the modem/router it just says 'no dial tone'...

Hey there Shirley ,

try doing some of Microsofts suggestions on fixing the "Dial Tone Error"

How to Troubleshoot "No Dial Tone" Issues in Windows XP

(The bottem one looks like it'll fix it on how to disable the Dial tone).

Thanks... I just had a quick look but im just about to go to work and it's a bit over my head so will go through it step by step when I get home!

I guess the trouble is maybe somewhere it's set somewhere to look for the USB speedtouch dooberry that it conects through normally and when I disconnect it and connect it through the router instead via the ethernet cable it doesn't know where to look for the connection...?

Those ipconfig settings look much better shirley.

In Internet Explorer, can you go to Tools, Connections, and select the option "Never Dial a Connection".
