Default [Resolved] Need a troubleshooting procedure

Hi guys,

a friend of mine was downloading a (perfectly legal, he tells me) 3 gig file on the residential university LAN and suddenly lost his connectivity. He went to see the helpdesk, and they've not cut off his connection, and we verified this by trying his laptop on my connection. He can connect to the LAN OK, but there's unusual network traffic (an average indication is 133 packets out, 2865 packets in). I tried PINGing, but it couldn't resolve any URLs. The DNS settings seem fine, so I have a feeling there could be an issue with his TCP settings. Of course, I could be way off.
The question is, what should I be trying next?

Well, it seemed to have come back by itself (while he was watching Hellboy oin DVD), but that's a handy one to know, Hengis. I'll put that in my PC Sledgehammer avoidance book.
