Default New router help

Our original windows xp system connected to tisscali broadband works fine. We have just purchased a Wireless Thomson Speedtouch 585 v6 router.

Disconnected original tiscalli supplied modem, running speed touch driver disc to install. during set-up error is reported and cant go anyfurther, error states "install a tcp/ip stack".
Then instructs to return to 'control panel/add remove programes/windows setup tab/make sure that the communication check box is selected (no such thing available)/insert youir 98/ME (were windows XP) CD-Rom and rebout/ Rerun the wizard from the CD menu. Don't understand.

Via the internet though, have managed to set-up router to commute wirelessly to iMac and other wireless devices but cannot connect original main windows xp computer via ethernet connection. The only way to get a broadband connection to the xp pc is by unplugging router and plugging in origianl Tiscali modem via usb link.

Please advise how to set-up all above through the one router, i.e all wirless connections plus windows xp via ethernet connection to router.

Hi hmsantrim,

Welcome to PCHF.

You'll need to access your router settings and manually enter tiscali's IP settings first. Here is what you'll need to know:

Virtual Circuit Identifier VCI 38
Virtual Path Identifier VPI 0
Encapsulation Mode VCMux
Authentication Type CHAP
Protocol RFC 2364: PPP over ATM (PPPoA)
Modulation Type G.DMT or Auto
Tiscali Primary DNS Server 212.74.112.66
Tiscali Secondary DNS Server 212.74.112.67
