Default [Answered] Blocking all network traffic - weird question

Hi,

I have a upload/download meter and I often see my PC suddenly uploading large amounts of data (like 10mbps for 1 minute), which means somebody on the network is downloading stuff from me and I don't know about it (I don't have such a fast internet connection so that's not it). Is there any way I can set up a firewall that will still let me download and upload to the internet and play games and stuff but will block any transfers between PCs on the LAN unless I approve? Thanks already

Hi Ge64

Are you running any kind of P2P file sharing setups?

Yeh I am, but I also want to block them from uploading to other p2p users on the LAN... I'm using Limewire and uTorrent

Hi Ge64

The site policy on P2P is written down for all to see in the Rules.
We cannot help with P2P whatsoever.
Therefore I am closing the thread.

Edit: Original rule call by Wolfey while technically correct, overridden by GarHar. Please keep in mind PCHF rules whenever asking for assistance. Thanks,
LGW

Hi Ge64, there is such a software - it's called ZoneAlarm.

From memory there was 2 versions, ZoneAlarm and ZoneAlarm Pro (this one wasn't free).
You can specify which program is allowed to access the net and lan individually.

You can download the free version here ZoneAlarm - Free Software Downloads and Software Reviews - Download.com

The only reason i stopped using it was because i got a hardware firewall and stopped using P2P software

Marked as Answered - if this is not what you're after, PM me and I'll look for alternatives for you.
