Default Internet Interruptions

Hello,

Recently I moved into my new apartment near school. "Fortunately" for me my ISP sucks; WaveLength internet (Wavelength Broadband Internet - We're on your Wavelength!)

My situation is: Every 20 seconds or so my internet connection is "down" or interrupted. Most games and applications I use can deal with the minor interruptions. mIRC cannot however. I always get a software caused connection abort error message.

I usually get pings up into the 500ms range, and I think my lowest has been 245ms. I called tech support the first time and they had me ping my router...and then their server.. and then Google.com. After this difficulty long process (for him at least) he basically told me that I needed to deal with the lag and call back when my internet connection went down.

I forgot to mention that. My internet connection fails litterally every night and stays down for random amounts of times, ranging from 10 minutes to 6 hours. For my whole apartment, not only my connection (I have 3 roomates.)

I know it isn't my router, I tried a direct connection to the wall (when the internet went down in that case I got a Limited Connection popup.) Also when the internet goes down.. my router Internet light flashes, as to being solid when connected, but the data light flashes continiously.

Whew.. long winded and forgive my grammer. Hope there is a solution to this!

Thanks

Thanks. Great to be here.

Yeah all 3 of us are on the same line. We all have different IP addresses (as far as I know.) There's just a ethernet wire hookup on the wall in each room. Im using a belkin wireless/wired router.

We all experience down-time, so I take it they have the same problems with speed and timeouts.

The problem is definatly at your Tech's end...unfortunatly they don't sound like they're very smart at all.

You're all going to have the same ISP connection if you connect through the same router. I'd suggest connecting your housemates to mIRC as well (same server) and see what kind of pings they're getting. And as soon as you get knocked off the net from your computer, quickly go check theirs.

This will at least either confirm whether the problem is isolated to your computer.
