Problem connecting to the internet through LAN
I am having problems connecting to the internet through a LAN. When I try to load a web-site, I get the "Opening page http://www.------.com" message but it just stays like that. My network is set up like this:
INTERNET CONNECTION --> FAMILY PC --> SWITCH --> MY PC
There is nothing wrong with the physical network or the settings on the family computer; it has to be the settings on my computer. My computer was working fine on the network with full internet access before I upgraded it, formatted the hard drive and then reinstalled Windows XP.
I can access shared hard drives on the family compuer with no problems. It's just internet access I'm having problems with.
It can't be a virus/spyware because I didn't plug into the network untill NOD32 and Ad-Aware were installed and the firewall was up.
The problem happens with Internet Explorer and Firefox.
When I ping web-sites in the command prompt it seems to be working fine (0% packet loss).
Here is the strange part: Google works fine. I can search and receive results. All other sites won't load.
PLEASE HELP!
