Im soon going to be having a new PC which will be going up stairs. I was hoping to set up a wireless network using the PC downstairs to connect the router to and then use a usb adaptor upstairs. At the moment the PC downstairs is using a standard ADSL modem, which came with our broadband package. I can access a phone socket upstairs and it has adsl filters etc.
A friend recently set up a network like i have described and it has worked fine, but im on a tight budget so I was wondering if it would be easier to set up a wireless network compared to a cable one and could you recomend any fairly cheap wireless routers and usb adaptors.

Well, not entirely in the "budget" category but cheap is as cheap does. I would recommend the Linksys WRT54G. Rock solid performer, easy setup and great support. Have a look on EBay, I saw one for £33 the other day! As for the wireless dongle, the Linksys USB 2.0 10/100 Network Adapter is a fairly good performer and will be compatible with the product above. If you're clever you'll get them BOTH for around £50.

Thanks for suggesting them. will keep an eye on them. Not a bad price compared to in the shops and really fast compared to other products i found more than that price!. It will be a week or two before i need the stuff so will keep checkin ebay. To be honest around £50 was the cheapest i thought i would get it. Both for £50! I hope so but Better get my calculator lol!
