Default Adding a second router to a network (to boost wifi signal)

Hi all.

In my house we have a router downstairs connected to the "main household pc". However my cpu is upstairs (directly above the router) but i can at best get a slow internet connection that is decidedly unreliable.

i do however have a spare router that i can plug into a phone socket in the next room.

My question is, how do i do this. basically i need the spare router to act as an "extension" to the one downstairs, i.e to boost the networks signal.

i havnt the first clue how to do this, also the spare router is probably still set up to a different network set-up, so i will need to change that (but i dont know how). The spare router is a Belkin one and i can go into the "wireless ADSL modem Router Setup Utility" (its blue themed with tabs down the left hand side) easily enough so anyone with experience with that may know what to do.

Any help would be great.

Nick

oh, also, if needed im obviously more than happy to go through the process over MSN MSNGER if its complicated and anyone could spare the time.

Thanks again

Hi Nick,

My welcome to PCHF as well, I don't believe that I've had the pleasure.

Can you please give us the information on the first router, as well as how it is configured?

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN
