Thanks, Joe5, I'll do that,
but in the meantime I want to report you a strange thing.

I went to the other PC (Game) and did the full restoration of WMI - it worked so we're done with that. But I noticed then that strange thing - I was checking - using Firefox if there is any post from you or your friend and realized that there was nothing from last 2 hours or so, although both you and I did some postings!!! Can you explain that? Is anything wrong?

Thanks again,

Stan

Thats indeed pretty strange.. Maybe a problem with temp files , lets run a cleaner:

download and run ATF-Cleaner.

First check "Select All" , and then remove the tick infront of "History".
Then click Empty Selected.
When you get the "Done Cleaning" message, click OK.

See if you can see all new post normally then with Firefox.

Joe5, sorry - it was my simple mistake - I didn't notice that we have already 2 pages of discussions and everything is OK - at least the last issue is solved.
By the way, thanks for promoting me to the Bronze Member status.

Now back to real problems. When I was doing the msconfig stuff, I noticed 2 ver suspicious items listed there - I can't even write it here because theye wer written in Chinese! - at least their names under "Startup Item". But Location for them was in English:
1/ HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows:Run
2/ HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows:Load

I left them for now, but unchecked 3 items:
hpcmpmgr.exe
Order Reminder
Event Reminder

I'm thinking about unchecking Teatimer and SpywareGuard in the light of what you said about leaving only ewido on auto?
Would that be OK? And what to do with that Chinese stuff?
Thanks,
Stan

Lol , that happends more often then you would think.

By the way, thanks for promoting me to the Bronze Member status.

That goes automaticly , the more posts youve made , the higher the rank.

That sounds indeed abit fishy.. can you post a screenshot of them? And did it say anything under "command"?

You can disable Spybots teatimer and Spywareguards protection in the apps options itself aswell.

Joe5,
I don't know how to send you a screenshot.
Anyway, under the "Command" there is exactly the same "lettering" as under "Startup Item", in both lines and after looking closer, it looks more like Korean to me. I don't know Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc. I've never put it there.
Can I uncheck it safely and Teatimer and Spywareguard?

Stan

Hi, Joe5 and Gromit

I did some clean up on my remote PC (Game) I had problem with. Downloaded a couple of registry cleaners. One found almost 400 errors at first attempt - all safe to clean so I did that (after backing up registry). Then I did the 2nd clean up and it showed 17 items that could or couldn't be safe to clean and I left them. There were also 3 more safe items and I cleaned them.

I also deleted a number of programs I no longer use on this computer.

Also, on the Net I found a solution for the hpcmpmg.exe error - downoaded the fix from the HP site. I hope it worked although I didn't check if the errors appears at closing down (I don't like waiting so long for the computer to reboot - as I complained before; now I suspect that the automatic MS update could be to blame. What you think?)

Now I believe it's time to finish my network. As I wrote before, we've made some progress, but I see one problem. And it's not with the PC we were fixing (Game), but with the laptop (Laptop).

I'll explain. A moment before I checked the Network Places at the Game and under the listing of shared folders (SharedDocs and My Documents) from Laptop, I'm getting an error:

...documents not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator...
The network path was not found."

Also under the name - Computer, Unknown was listed for the Laptop.

What I've noticed during last couple days while trying to build the network, that the situation re the laptop was changing - I had access to it for some time and then I didn't have. I think as long as the laptop is on and is being used, everything is fine - all the connections and access are fine.

But I've noticed - I don't know if it's typical for the laptops or not (I bought a used one so I'm not sure), but when I don't use it for some time - e.g. 30 minutes, or maybe even less - 15 min it kind of stops working. At least Internet. I'm using Firefox there and get a message that the site is not accessible or something to that effect - I don't remember exactly, but it means that there is no Internet connection. My only solution for that is to reboot and I get the connection back. I don't know if it's called hibernation, or saving energy,or something else and I wouldn't mind that except that I'm losing then the Internet connection and have to reboot (fortunately it takes less time than with the Game Pc...)

So right now most probably the fact that the laptop is not being shown in the Networking Places at the Game is caused by that problem.

After those long explanations - can you please help me with that? I hope it's the last problem. We did so much and I hope we'll finish it nicely tomorrow.

Thanks a lot again,
Stan

You can attach a screenshot using the Imageshack box below the reply window to upload the image and then paste it in youre post.

It should show the location of the files under "command"

And yes , you can safely disable Teatimer and Spywareguard.
