Default fun and games with Apple Airport Express and a BT 205 router

A client of mine has recently purchased two Apple Airport Express units to Wi-Fi his house with his BT 205ADSL router, the first unit went in ok, and internet access was on the wireless network it created. however, when i followed Apple's instructions to set up "WDS" so the other unit could act as a repeater and increase the networks range, the PC i was using to set it up on lost connection and then i could not see any network available at all.

i chose to reset both the units and now when i try and use the PC's configuration tool it comes up with a message saying something along the lines of "unable to initialise Wireless Network System"

i do not think this is a hardware problem as Windows' Wireless Zero can connect to the network, however internet has now been lost on the network and i cannot use the configuration tool to access the access point to set it up.

i have tried re-installing Apple's software and also installing on my laptop and i still have no joy...

if anyone can help me i'd be really grateful!

[lesson leaned, never ever ever buy something with a fruit for a label ]

thanks guys

dil

Hi there,

Hmmm...I have no experience with Apple Airport running on IBM structure. Have you tried the Apple forums? There are some excellent sites out there.

Question Network Cable?

Hi dil

I'm afraid I don't have any experience with 'fruity' wireless either - sorry.

That said have you tried connecting to the AirPort via a network cable rather than wirelessly?

Gromit

NB - Can you let us know if you manage to get a resolution for this and post it here so as we can have it available for someone else if they get the same problem. - Thanks
