Default Will not connect to the network and hence the Internet...

This happened just this morning after months of having no problems. Sure, my computer said something about sharing the same IP address as some other computer on the network. I could access the other computers on the network through my computer but they couldn't access mine.

And there was nothing wrong with my connection to the network or the internet. Then suddenly, this morning, I couldn't connect to either of them.

When I restarted, the icon indicating that I'm not connecting to the network appeared. Going into "My Network Connections" tells me that I'm got "Limited or no connectivity". Clicking repair gives me a popup that says "Windows could not finish repairing the problems because the following action could not be completed: Renewing your IP address".

But it acts a bit strangely. For example, Tvtorrents.com is a very slow site. If I go there, it'll take a few seconds before I get the usual "Could not compute" error message. If I go to any of the fast sites, the message (page, really) appears almost instantly.

Thumbs down Don't spend any money!!

There's a lot of things you can do first here - don't spend any money as per the naff suggestion below from bidush! :icon_scra

Anyway...:read2:

What type of network do you have?
Do you know which PC on your network you're having an IP conflict with?

To find out your IP address and to also see if DHCP is enabled...
Click - Start>Run Type "cmd" (without quotes)>OK
Then in the DOS box type:
"ipconfig /all"
If you have a 169.254.xxx.xxx address this will likely mean that you don't have a connection as it's a MS default address. You should have something like 192.168.0.4.
If DHCP is enabled (which should show in the list from above) then type:
"ipconfig /release" - Hit return and wait for the cursor
"ipconfig /renew" - Hit return and wait again
If you get an error here it's likely to be due to the network connection itself or your DHCP server (which in most cases is your router/switch - try re-setting it if you know how).

If you don't get any errors type:
"ipconfig /all"
You should now have a new IP address with a new lease. To test your net connection type:
"ping www.google.com" - Hopefully this will produce responses

Try browsing the web again.

Let us know how you get on :computer2
