Default Can't connect to wireless network with WEP key

I have a wireless network set up and I can connect to it perfectly and browse the web and all that but when I set a WEP key, I see the network, I type the key and connect. It connects.

I go into connection status and it first reads-

Address Type: Invalid IP Address

IP Address: 0.0.0.0

Subnet Mask: 0.0.0.0

Default Gateway: (blank)

then after a while it changes to-

Address Type: Automatic Private Address

IP Address: (shows IP)

Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0

Default Gateway: (blank)

However, I can't browse the internet or anything. Most likely because the Default Gateway is missing. Why does this happen?

Looks like you have entered the wrong WEP key onto the PC. Double check that first.

What service pack are you using?

1. And I'd really like to stay with that. I upgraded to 2 for a while and hated it.

Ok well I contacted Linksys support and it turns out I was putting the key in the wrong place. Well I can connect and the service works and everything but now there's a new problem. Whenever I connect with a WEP key, the network disconnects every 5-10 minutes. Support told me to change some values so I did. I changed Beacon Interval from 100 to 50. Changed RTS Threshold from 2432 to 2304 and Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304. Didn't fix it. They then suggested I upgrade my router's firmware but I really don't think it's necessary. Any suggestions?

Do check the power management for your device. If that is not the problem its something to do with windows.
