Default DNS Delegation Windows Server 2003 AD Environment

Hello all
I have the following setup:

Root Domain = "Mydomain.com"
with one Domain Controller "DC1"

Child Domain = "ChildDomain.Mydomain.com"
with another Domain Controller = "DC2"

Both DCs have DNS installed.

DC1 is currently Authoritive for the whole namespace of
"ChildDomain.Mydomain.com".

What I would like to do is Delegate the sub Domain "ChildDomain" to the
DNS running on "DC2".

I run the Delegation wizard and go through the process and not
unnaturally the actual domain child domain (in our case ChildDomain)
already exists on DC1 so the name can't be delegated as well.

So how do I delegate a Child Domain name to another server when the
actual child domain name already appears in the root domain?

Hope this makes sense ....

Hi Keats,

Welcome back.

This is absolutely not my area of expertise. I will PM a couple of the guys who may be able to help.

However in reading your post, I am wondering why you cannot rename "Childdomain" to Childdomain1" and then make the copy to DC2. Deleting the original Childdomain under DC1 once you have finished?

I'm sure the guys will have some wonderful ideas, as usual.
