Default bypassing router

Alright. I have a WRT54G v2 router and an RCA cable modem. On the cable modem there is the cable connection, ethernet connection area, and a spot for usb. The cable is of coarse being used by the cable running the internet, the ethernet spot is being used by the rouet for all the wireless computers, and then there is this usb port. Can I use that usb to bypass the router so i don't have to do port forwarding to game and host rooms and all those fun things? is there a way to bypass the router anyway.

If you're saying that you want to run a USB connection from the back of your PC to the back of your Cable Modem, then yes - so long as your PC IP address is set to DCHP. I don't know what effect it will have on your existing connection to the router...probably not too good.

I actualy used to do that in the pass. I would connect my comp to the modem with USB and then connect the wirless with CAT5, and it worked just fine. Same speeds for both of them, never had a single problem.

You will need the USB drivers for your Cable modem if you're gonna connect it straight up.

I have an RCA Digital|Broadband Modem. Would you know where to get the drivers for that?
