The PC in my profile isn't the one I'm working on, like any good geek I have a few PC's.
The problem PC is a few years old and kind of generic. It's a P4 1.3GHz on a PC400 (M920)mobo.

Ok, I checked out the site but I didn't see where it says the update turns v1.1 into v1.2 then v1.3, did I miss it? I don't want to take unnecessary risks with my BIOS, ya know.

Starting from the beginning:

This error normally comes up when you don't have anything setup on your hard drive. I know this probably isn't the case but normally if it doesn't detect anything on the drive it will boot into this "Network" thing.

Couple of things to try:
  • Reset the settings in your BIOS to default
  • Swap IDE cables to make sure it isn't faulty
  • Try boot up with the basics i.e just you hard drive no CDROM
  • Make sure the settings in your BIOS are set to boot from Hard drive.

Ok, I've done all these steps plus tried different known good HD's with the same results.
I've completely removed the network option from the boot menu but it still goes right to it. I'm thinking this has to be a BIOS issue but I've reset them to the default and cleared my CMOS. Is the next step a flash of the BOIS?
