An adapter to help connect to the network, but i suppose the router will do that? Would i need a WAP (Wireless Acess Point)?

you dont need an AP, that is for taking a hardwired network and makign it wireless in 1 spot. The onyl adapter your shoudl need are Wireless NICs in the 2 PCs

they do not need the same make wireless cards, and you only need cables if you plan to hook one or more of the computers up via ethernet cable (not wireless!) if you do hook it up via RJ47 cable you will need a "Crossover cable".
