I got a PC from work. It was connected to a network, I cannot connect to the internet using my cable ISP. Any thoughts? I switched out the ethernet cards but that's not it?

Have you set the IP address to DHCP or does your ISP require you to have a static address?

Go to Run and type in "Command".
Type ipconfig and press enter.
Tell us what you see there.

You were probably connecting through a DOMAIN in your office or the machine has been setup with a proxy server, check the following:

Open your internet explorer, click on tools and then Internet Options.
Click on the Connections tab and see if it is set to "Never Dial a connection" or "always dial my default connection" (post on the site)
Then click on the LAN settings tab and see if there is any information in the Proxy server box. If there is then you can untick the box.
Apply the changes and try to run IE again.
