Default [Pending] Internet Connection Problems

Hi everyone, I'm a new member here and I joined last week, but for some reason it won't let me log in so I have to type this as a guest.

I'm having problems connecting to the Internet on my Gateway computer which uses the Windows XP operating system.

This computer is not even a year old yet and it was working fine until one night I connected to the internet and while it says it's connected I'm not seeing any web pages, just getting error pages.

Since then I've tried replacing the modem drivers which didn't fix the problem, I even purchased a new modem and tried that but once again problem wasn't solved.

I ran a PC Doctor test on my Modem and it did find two errors:

Modem Simple Connection Test 2911-205
Modem Connection Quality Test 2911-206

I don't understand what the problem is though, like I said I tried a new modem and that didn't work. It's getting very frustrating and I'm having to use my old computer until I can fix the problem. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. Merry Christmas :-)

Welcome to the Forums

If your dialup connects to the internet then your modem is working fine. It sounds like your Proxy settings have been changed somehow.
Which provider do you use to connect to the internet? and did you get any paper work from them.
What you will probably need to do is phone them up and ask them for their proxy settings which you can change by doing the following:
Open internet explorer, click on tools --> Internet Options ---> Connections.
Now in the below box you should see the name of your modem/connection. I might be wrong by saying the following because I havent use a dialup modem in years, but if you click settings then you should be able to change your proxy setting. If not you can click on LAN SETTINGS at the bottom and change them in there.
You provider should be able to tell you what settings you need enabled.
