Default Linksys & 802.G

I've just bought a new Linksys 802.g router and had major problems getting both 802.b & g clients to connect every time they power up.

To solve the problems I've had to go around the houses and I'm not sure I've got the story right yet. My wife has a 802.b card runing off a PCMIA slot and I've got an Intel 2200 b/g internal. As soon as I have worked out how I got it running I'll let you now but it is not going to be easy.

The router is running is mixed mode after starting in 802.b only. I've installed external 802.b\g cards in both laptops and connection from power up was almost impossible. Returning my wife's computer to an external 802.b card meant connection everytime she powered her computer up.

I started my laptop on 802.b setting but it would not keep connection for more than 30 mins. Changing it to 802.g it now works eveytime without droping connection.

They is without doubt a problem with mixed wireless networks not Linksys routers. Give it 6 months they will post a firmware fix.

Simon

Hi Simon, i know this is a fairly old thread - and i apologise for noone actually answering your queries to begin with.

Can you please inform us whether or not this is still an issue for you? As you said "6 months they will post a firmware fix" has this been the case?
