Randlelwa,

It seems that there are 2 different ways to load RAID in a desktop configuration - 1 at setup using the F6 and the other is a software setup AFTER Windows is installed.

Could you OPEN your case and tell us what the HDD connections look like? That will help us determine if this is an F6 install or an "after the fact" software configuration. A pic of the BIOS would help also if you have a digital camera handy.

Randlelwa,

I've had the following provided to me.

Configuring RAID on a New PC You can configure your new system for RAID and install the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager driver during the Microsoft Windows* operating system installation. Refer to the User’s Manual for complete steps.

Configuring RAID on an Existing PC
Intel’s RAID configuration utilities offer the flexibility to upgrade from a single Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive to a two drive RAID 0 or RAID 1 configuration when an additional SATA hard drive is added to an existing PC. Beginning with Intel Matrix Storage Manager, you can also migrate to a 3 or 4-drive RAID 5 or a 4-drive RAID 10 configuration on ICH7R systems.
Refer to the User’s Manual for complete steps.

I found the above at one of the links provided in the thread.

Sorry DCI, What do you need a picture of?

The reason I assume it needs to be the f6 method is that the windows install cannot be continued when it cannot find the hard drive. I need to install someting via the f6 method just to get the install to complete.

Have you setup the RAID array prior to attempting the O/S install? To my experience you will be prompted to press certain keys to enter the RAID setup utility during POST. Has this been done?

Hi cobracon, thanks for helping.

I have not set up the raid in advance and am prompted to do so before the install will initiate via the f6 key.

The RAID array must be configured BEFORE you begin the O/S install. F6 doesn't configure the array, it allows you to install SATA/RAID drivers.
