Hi,

My problem has two stages:

Stage 1 (during 5 past months). Suddenly Keyboard (both PS2 and USB) not working during boot time (can´t access to bios setup or Windows boot settings). When XP launches, keyboard working properly. So I dealed with it and didn´t worry.

Stage 2 (today). Suddenly a black screen after XP launching. USB Mouse Pointer moves but Keyboard doesn´t work.
Can´t try a XP reparation (I can´t setup the bios for CD boot) or a different Windows boot mode, as F8. I´m completely blocked, and next monday I have a deadline for a important work.

...So any help will be highly appreciated!!

I would first try to reset the CMOS according to the manufacturer's instructions provided on the manual.

CMOS resetting has solved the first part of my issue, and now keyboard is working at boot time, but with XP the problem persists. Is like XP launches but screen is black (if I boot in safe mode, I still view the black screen with mouse pointer, and the "Safe Mode" title on the corners of my monitor, so it seems that I am in XP, but without interface)

Now when in XP (the black screen I mean) try CTRL+AL+DEL one time, if it opens a Task manager window, select New>Task, navigate to the Windows folder and open explorer.exe (or simply explorer if you still have "Hide extensions for known file types" enabled)

Thanks again, but today I can´t access XP, I have a new surprise, a new message about "hal.dll missing or damaged. Please restore a copy of this file". I´ve tried to copy it from another machine and overwrite, but no success.

I´ve also install the C disk of this machine in another one as slave. I´ve check for bad sectors and viruses. Aparently, the disk is clean and working. But the problem persists.
