I seem to be having a problem with my Bios I think. Any help would be appreciated. The onboard video went out so I purchased a video card and installed it in the pc. All worked well, machine booted up fine and ran fine until I had to reboot. The fan runs and it seems to try to boot but nothing. If I turn the machine off, take out the battery for a few seconds, and replace it will boot up but when booting it comes to the bios screen and I have to hit f1 to continue. The machine continues to boot fine and runs jsut fine untill I have to reboot. Of course then I have to go thru the process again. I have a Gateway 5618e, with Athlon 64 x2 4400 2gb ram. The motherboard is a ecs c51pvgm-m v1.1 The Bios is Phoenix Technologies ftd 6.00 pg 04/09/2007. Any suggestions?

Thanks! Everything works great until the reboot. This has been going on for a few months because I was afraid to mess with the bios. It just seems not to retain the bios info, date, time ect. There have been no other oddities or problems

I have replaed the battery, both with a current working one from another machine and a new one. There does not seem to be any diff.

Hi
What elpmek stated appears plausible, as there seem to be something going on with Athlon 64x2 mainboards. Check the link here, I think the issues are related.
