Default No POST after reboot or within 10 mins of shutdown

The PC is a Packard Bell imedia 1328.

Whenever I reboot or if I turn it on "too soon" everything turns on except POST does not run (keyboard doesn't flash) and I get no video. Everything else is on though.

I have updated the BIOS to the current version.

Additional components/upgrades:

1x AGP GFX Card (Nvidia Geforce 6200)
2x 512MB RAM (1GB Total)

That is all. The memory has been tested, taken out, etc and is working fine. I tried switching back to onboard GFX but got the same problem.

I have found that if I go to BIOS and choose Power Options > S3 and choose REPOST VIDEO (yes) then I get one restart out of it where video displays.

But the next time it starts the Yes is changed to No and it doesn't restart/boot with video. The only Power Options are S1 (POS) and S3 Only.

Is there a way to fix this? Make it remember the setting? The CMOS battery is brand new and I have tried about three different batteries. Also reset CMOS by removing a battery for 30 mins.

I'd appreciate some help as I would like to give this PC to my cousin. Here is the specification:

Desktops > iMedia > imedia 1328

Thanks

Try this as a possible sollution: Take everything out of the USB even keyboard and mouse and see if you can get a post. If not try disconnecting the front USB ports and see what you get. If you do, then put each USB back into the system until you find what is causing the issue. I have found that USB can be a major contributor to no post senerios.

Thanks. I'll try that tonight (don't have many sockets in my room and I prefer keeping my PC that works plugged in).

Although I do seem to recall I did try that. Any other suggestions?

Okay I tried a MINIMAL boot...it was just the keyboard and monitor plugged in.

I changed the firmware to the original version and it hasn't helped. It is still doing the same thing. So I don't think its USB devices. Could the motherboard just be dead/faulty?

Its only just two years old. I really need help with this. I can't give it away until its in full working order.

I don't remember...I think so. But they are compatible with the board and Crucial RAM as well.

Also when I bought it it came with 256MB RAM...I don't want to go back to that. Plus I don't have the original RAM stick anymore.

I suppose I could buy a cheap 256 stick to test it but then what would that do? I need the machine to have 1GB RAM...256MB RAM is subpar these days.

I suppose it must be the RAM since I have swapped out the graphics card and switched to onboard and had the same problem. I have also tried only one stick of RAM and got the same problem.

Any suggestions?
