Default Bllue screen when reformating ACPI disable?

hi, just reformatted my computer and i am having major problems with it.
so, I deleted the partition and installed my version of windows xp. The computer restarted and after the " press any key to boot from cd...." it went to the a blue screen saying the bios in this system is not fully acpi compliant etc . so i turned of the acpi in the bios and continued installing windows xp on my computer. once it had finished it wouldnt boot so in vain i went through the process again. ie reformatted the computer and installed windows. However this time when i disabled the acpi it didnt work , the blue screen again came up and even though i had disabled the acpi it still continued to come up. ARGHGHGHG im begining to think that maybe the motherboard has gone or something. Any suggestions ? Please. I have a asus a8n32 sli deluxe motherboard with 1gb of ram.

Hello and welcome to PCHelpForum.

We have a great Tech Team and members who can help you with your issue.

I have marked your thread as "Open" in readyness for the team.

Have you tried loading fail safe defaults in BIOS and setting your CD/DVD drive to first boot device and trying again?

JB.

no i havnt tried loading fail safe bios defaults not really sure how to bt i'll have a look.

I have left the pc to boot from my cd drive though so as it can complete the installation of windows so i never changed the boot back to the harddrive.

update

after leaving my computer of for 30 mins going into the bios and AGAIN turning of the acpi and for the first time i disabled the other power functions it has now carried onto the installation so the blue screen of death has gone. good this be a over heating problem? for the past 3 months occasionally theres been the sound of a dying fan coming from the desktop but the noise disapears quickly.

i shall keep this thread updated

Hi there,

Did you also check online to see if there is a new firmware update available for your bios?
