Motherboards - GA-MA78GM-S2H vista ultimate 64 wont install at al posted in the Hardware forums; if the controller is bad...then all disks are going to fail. right? well, they do. but that doesn't eliminate power supply or hdd controller...

Your absolutely right.

Regarding the power supply, removing all non-essential devices should have been enough. See also: eXtreme Power Supply Calculator v2.5 to calculate your requirements.

it may not have been enough, depending on how bad off the psu is.

So what's the plan? Do you have another PSU to test with? Are any of these components under warranty?

I for one would find it highly unlikely that you would get two faulty boards. Not impossible but unlikely.

Since memory tests OK I would be inclined to invest in a much better PSU because you simply can't go wrong there in any case.

PSU's are often way underrated as to their importance and it's far better to have too much power than to flirt with just enough just as it isn't wise to buy generic in that instance.

It's the heart of your system and as such you want a strong reliable one.
