Default Acer Aspire 1672WLMi Bios Upgrade Failure
Hi, I flashed the BIOS on my Acer laptop and now it doesn't work!!! When I switch it on I get one loud beep, then the fan starts up and nothing else. Any ideas How I can solve this? I have no boot disks (not even sure the DVD ROM is even checked since flashing the BIOS). Acer support reckon it can be fixed but they want me to part with 55 GBP for them to evaluate the problem and give me a quote for the fix, cheek!!

Could you rest the BIOS via BIOS rest jumper.

Hi JellyBean,

I haven't had any suggestions from anybody about How to fix my problem. I just noticed that you mentioned resetting the bios using the jumpers. Don't suppose you can tell me How to identify this?

Years ago, I would have had a good idea how to sort this out, but now most of that knowledge is a distant memory.

Bill you need to power off the laptop and remove your power bettery.Under on of the bottom plates you will locate your BIOS battery.Near this should be 4 pins 2 of them will have a plastic jumper on.Remove jumper and put on the two spare pins for a few minutes.Then replace onto the origonal pins.
