Default BIOS flash problem?

I have a DFI LP DK P45-T2RS Plus motherboard that I'm still getting used to and experimenting with.

I flashed the BIOS last week with an OC profile BIOS that was offered on the DFI site for that board though the profile was of an e8500 processor whereas I have a Q9450.

I have the system running fairly stable but there are some glitches and I saw that DFI has posted a new BIOS which addresses just the issues that have been nagging me.

Problem is I downloaded the new bin file and now when I attempt to flash the BIOS I get a BIOS boot string does not match error and WinFlash goes no further.

I'd really like to install this new BIOS but have no idea how to overcome this obstacle?

Unfortunately BIOS flashing is not my area of expertise. I havent had to update a BIOS in years. You can contact DFI and see if they have another BIOS you can try

Default Re: BIOS flash problem?

Took a while but I finally got it sorted.

The BIOS was a BETA and I'm guessing a problematic one as it's been pulled from the DFI site but not without informing those of us who used it that we would have to reflash our BIOS and could only do it in DOS mode.

Problem I ran into there was by the time I made a DOS startup disk there was not enough space left on it to place the BIOS bin file on it.

I was getting a bit perplexed when I got another idea which was to use my USB drive.

HP has a USB disk storage format tool to make a flash drive bootable.

HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool - v2.1.8 Download - EXTREME Overclocking

What I did then was insert my floppy then right clicked it and formatted it as a DOS startup disk and left it in the A:\ drive.

I then ran the HP disk storage format tool for the USB drive and when asked what DOS files to use I pointed it at the A:\ drive.

When it finished I simply extracted the new BIOS zip files to the flash drive as well then set my BIOS to book from the USB drive and voila new BIOS installed.

I didn't find a whole lot of info pertaining to this which is why I thought I'd give a full play by play in case it helps someone else down the road.
