I've been researching my problem for some time...So I'm looking for some custom suggestions to this problem...here's whats going on

Installed everything very carefully, no post, so I returned my parts to newegg for replacement since I figured it was the motherboard or cpu (no problem, I patiently waited for their return)

Got the same parts, factory sealed... same problem!
I do no suspect the cpu

I have..

Foxcon 775 motherboard -
Intel Pentium D (775) CPU
Corsair 667 1g ram or Kingston 667 1 g ram - Tried with both
4 different DVD/CD roms - All work fine
250g Sata hard drive - Works fine
Geforce 9500 GT 512mb graphics card - Works fine
Kingwin or Raidmax power supply 450w each - Tried both

NO Beeps with everything taken out but motherboard, cpu, and ram
No beeps with or without peripherals
Also when IDE cable is plugged into DVD rom THE DVD ROM doesn't seem to have power?! but they work fine in another machine, and I can open and close them with just the power cable plugged in

Do I have a second dead motherboard?\
I ordered ram today that is specifically mentioned in the motherboard manual since the two types I have are not, yet reviews have mentioned the types I have as working

Any help greatly appreciated, hopefully I missed something...

And my case doesn't have the plug for the power led to the motherboard, it has one that gets power from the PS...will this cause no post?

Hey Prabun, welcome to PCHF.

It seems you have already done some good diagnosing here.

You tried testing with all components removed. Can you try testing with PSU, Motherboard and CPU? It will not be able to beep if the CPU is not present or faulty. Also, does the CPU fan spin when powered on?

I was just discussing this case LED with a colleage of mine. Have not seen this before. That's a lot of power for an LED, but it wouldn't cause it not to post. As long as you have a connection to the mb for power.

Hello and welocme to PCHelpForum.

We have an excellent tech team who will help you with your issue but lets get a few things listed first.

What is exact make and model of your mainboard?

Make sure all connections are fully pushed in and also your grpahics card is fully seated.

Have you firmly pushed in the 24 pin power supply or the split 20/4 pin power supply?

There is a 4 pin power supply connection on your mainbaord have you connected this?

Double check your CPU is connected correctly and the fan is connected to mainboard.

Have you connected the small cables to the bottom right corner of the mainboard?

Are these cables correctly fitted in order as some cases and mainboards have a diffrent colour code to there wires.

Take the computer down to bare boot.Do not connect your HDD or DVD/CD rom drive.

Are you sure your PSU is ok?

Try/check what I have posted and please post back with results.

Thankyou.

JB.

4 pin and 20/4 pin connector firmly pushed in, graphics seated and screwed in to the case

CPU fan spins, PSU fan spins, Graphics Card fan spins

Ram seated properly, I only used one to test

What I do know is that CPU is seated properly, I performed a perfect static free installation of this because it was the second time I had to, I was extremely delicate and precise

I tried without anything in and still no luck

Votes for dead motherboard?

Just to confirm, you did try just the PSU, motherboard and CPU on it's own?

Yes, I tried everything suggested

The motherboard is
Foxconn 945P7AA
CPU is Pentium Dual-Core 2.3

I think the problem is that the motherboard bios is old, and is not recognizing the CPU...therefore no display/post/boot because it considers the CPU as faulty or non-compatible

Is there a way around this? I thought maybe putting the cheapest cpu on the manual list to install XP and update the bios, then put the Pentium D in and install vista

Think this might work?

I doubt they sent me a DOA mainboard twice

Ahh, prabun, were definately on the same page here, I'm sure it is the CPU also. The PC will not start, or even beep if the CPU is not present, or if there is a CPU fault.

There's no BIOS updates for this particular CPU at foxconn for the 945P7AA, so I don't believe this board even supports Dual Core. As far as I can tell, it supports socket 775: Pentium 4, Pentium D - Prescott's and Celeron's only.

EDIT: Marked as Answered.
