Motherboards - Graphic Card Availability posted in the Hardware forums; The 7600GT is not the equil to the 3850 the 3850 is the best AGP gfx on the market...
make sure you get the agp version. It is massively better than the 7600 GT or even the 7800GS agp cards by nearly 1000 3dmark 06 points and seeing as the 7600GT scores around 3300/3600, 1000 points is quite a lot
Zing misread that one, not equal, but equiv in terms of the best you can get for each of the leading brands. I would personally still go for the Geforce despite the performance difference, which in terms of AGP your not going to notice a great deal (Max bandwidth 2133mb/s assuming it's an 8x AGP slot). If you had PCI-Express, then I would agree Zing. Stick with quality I would say, and you can still pick one of these up for $99. Remember also, that if you later decide to purchase a new PC, you won't be able to take this card with you. At the end of the day, it's completely your decision Nik as it's your cash to spend. If you the money to spend, you might as well go for a new PC with PCI-Express, and get the card you really want. You'll notice one hell of a performance difference.
well we will have to agree to disagree on this one . The unified shaders count on the 3000 series for a start . The 4000 series cards results speak for themselves amd/ati have a place on the market and the 4870x2 possibly the best card available at this moment.
I know I know, it's one of these things I guess comes down to the individual. Your definately right, it's a better card in terms of performance, but is it really worth that much extra money for AGP card, your just not going to get the full benefit from it. It's up to Nik to decide really, but at least she's had the thoughts from both sides of the fence so to speak.
