Default Serial Number

My first query - one of many perhaps!

I have an ASUS 8 v MB. As I have never updated the BIOS I looked for the Serial No. All I could see was "NI 3219 Made In China".

Before I go searching for an update does anyone recognise these numbers as ASUS ones please?

Perhaps, if nothing is awry, I should leave well alone.

If you give us the Model of your motherboard, we can help you find drivers and BIOS updates.

Thanks for offer. Herewith screen shot from ASUS update site. From this it appears that I can update from internet. To be safe I think that I should have advice first from this forum.

I've owned and operated 24hr Computer Housecalls for over 15 years now. Done over 1,000 servicecalls and only been stumped once. I don't know why I'm having problems finding the motherboards serial number on a ASUS motherboard. Every number I give them off the board they say "that's not it either" The client doesn't have his motherboard box and the system boards capacitors are bulging and shot. But to perform warranty service by the manufacturer they need the serial number. Anyone had problems like this with ASUS. Here is a link to the images of serial numbers I've been able to find.

Anyone have an example of what the serial number "sticker" should look like because they say all the ones above are not it.

Thanks.

All the info I could see on my MB was as shown in my first post: "NI 3219 Made in China".

Not much help I know, sorry.

My other posting (08-27-2008 09:49 AM): re should I update BIOS.
Advice appreciated. If all is working leave alone perhaps? What do BIOS updates actually update?
