Question I'm Ignorant to this.

Hello there. I'm new to this board and I really don't know much about computer hardware. Right now my computer is pretty much a peice, so I was wondering what would help it out a graphics card or a new processor. I'm not even sure what kind of graphics card or processor my board can use, so I have some specs here.

Mainboard

Manufacturer: Micro-star International Co., Ltd
Model: MS-7061
Chipset: VIA KM400 Rev. 00
Southbridge: VIA VT8237
Sensor: Winbond W83697HF
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 1600+
1.40 GHz, 704 MB of RAM

Do I know what much of this means? No I'm clueless, but I got the information from a program called CPU-Z. Anyways I was wondering what will incress my speed best a new processor or graphics card. If you could give me links to products that will work for me that would be wonderful.

Also if you need any other type of information just ask me, and tell me how to get it because like I said I'm pretty ignorant to computers

Thanx

Hello Gwody and welcome to PC Help Forum.

It is possible to get better performance from your computer. Your Micro-Star board will take up to an Athlon XP 3000+ processor and 2 gig of ddr 333 memory. Also you could put an 8X AGP card on the board. If you are just looking to play the latest games then I fear zinglebarb is correct. It all depends on what you use your PC for.
