Default Bios update?

Hello PCHF,

I was wondering if someone could show me how to update my bios, please?
On my Asus mobo CD came a program called PC probe II which i installed and ran, it claims my 1.2VHT is getting 1.49v. So i went into the bios and looked for myself, yep its getting 1.49v Ive been to the ASUS forums and found out that a bios update is what i need. Others said they changed it manualy with-in the bios but im not sure how to do that.

The Asus site tells me how to update but it got to complicated. So i asked on another forum how to do it, they said if i downloaded the bios using ASUS bios updater its alot easier. I've got as far as downloading the new bios in zip. I extracted them, then run the updater using the option 'update bios from a file'. I selected the file, pressed ok, then nothing happens.

thanks in advance
my specs are above

Default Re: Bios update?

your cd shoudl have had asus update find that install it and download the bios file for your motherboard from the asus website. Then just update from file using asus update

it should have done it maybe you got the wrong file,This is the method I always use

The 6400 iirc is the 95nm process and around 1.4 vcore sounds about right to me

Matt,

I downloaded your motherboard manual, and according to section 4.4.3 Overvoltage (page 4-23 & 4-24), it appears that the default voltage setting in your BIOS is AUTO, so the increase to 1.49v HT was done automatically. If you feel the need to change this, follow the directions in your manual and "click" your way back to the 1.2volt setting.

My apoligies I misunderstood are you running the system stock? if you are overclocking it may be tying it with the overclock. Does the system run stable? and heat issues? if it is stable and not hot leave it as is cuz if it aint broke dont fix it
