K well forget that, windows has just broken. It updated and made me install, froze on the restart (crashed for about 5 minutes). I hard restarted it and upon booting it told me that 'windows could not boot'

the problem was;

"windows/system32/drivers.nvstor64.sys

status; 0xc0000428

cannot verify digital signature"

It wants me to reinstall Vista now, I'm going to comply and try fresh installing the system again. Will be very careful this time and log down any problems I have, will post what happens later or tomorrow.

This is your GPU drivers.nvstor64.sys driver.I never download Microsoft driver for my GPU it always crashes my sytem I would go to NVIDIA for them.

A reinstall may help it may not but some times we do get a bad install.

Hokay so...

I ran a memtest86 to find out if the RAM had any problems, none at all

BUT after running it and rebooting i noticed that the BIOS now recognised that the CPU was 2.4Ghz, booting into Vista i found absolutely no problems in running it, all the problems i had before were none existant.

I can't figure out why it works now, I will be cautious for a week or so and test it hard to see if it picks up any problems again.

Any ideas? Thanks for all the help, can you keep the thread up for a week incase a problem does arrive, and if nothing I'll post the success.

Yes we can leave your thread open do not worry.

Ahh Vista new hardware then try a repair with Vista DVD.Vista can be a little bit picky when installing new hardware a repair should do it.
