Smile [Resolved] Asus A8n-la (nagami-gl8e)

I have been trying to remedy a problem with the built in sound card on my Wife's Compaq Presario Desktop SR1820NX. It plays most most music/sounds without a problem, the major exception being videos on websites accompanied by sound. This is when I get noise that is so bad you don't want to listen any more. I tried installing a Diamond Extreme Sound 7.1 sound card. Installation instructions stated to disable the built in sound card with in CMOS, which I did. I am still getting the same problem, can anyone help????

Hi there and welcome to the forum - can you give us a linked example of the sites you are having difficulty with so that we can ascertain the source of the file?

Now that the kids are at schools & I have some caffeine in me I was able to retrieve the info from the other computer (I only have 5 of them floating around this house). I finally got 4 jpg files uploaded 2 that show the device manager, I had to break it in half it was too long because I was trying to be thorough, One of them shows all the files pertaining to legacy on the PC that I could find, and that last is the file saved from WCPUID, the handy utility free I came across which shows all sorts of info on your CPU status. I hope all of this helps, if you need something more let me know and I will get it.

There have been a wide assortment of file types that have been problems and they have been inconsistent. I will often use the program Winamp to play music of the internet, sometimes the problem will occur and sometimes it won't while using Winamp. I have found to rhyme or reason as to when or why it acts up. One URL that I produced "bad"sound was (see attached) I found that compliments of my 10 year old son. Any help with this situation will be much appreciated .

Hi It could be a codec problem try download this codec pack Free-Codecs.com : XP Codec Pack 2.3.7 is one of the most completed codec packs and install it and reboot the PC and see it you still have the problem. Also do you have any wireless devices? try turning them off to see if the problem is still there.

I installed the XP codec pack and that seems to have solved the problem I can now take the next step and install the new sound card (Diamond Xtreme Sound 7.1) for my wife. If I have any more problems I will be sure to get back. Thank you much for the assistance and I will be talking with my wife about donating to the site also.
