Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse. Unusual problem...
Ok, so one day i got tired of the random virus scans from Iolo Tech, so i decided to uninstall it for awhile... I re booted my computer but my internet did not work, hoping to fix it, i couldnt re install the Iolo because i needed a network connection. So i tryed to do a system restore and it was going through the proccesses at the blue screen and my computer is already known for the random restarts, so it randomly restarted while my computer was restoring, and when it rebooted, the mouse laser was not on, and my keyboard lights were not on, and my monitor was off..
Ive already unhooked all the wiring on my computer EVERY single one.... then re wired it up, i tryed to change the video card, and the power supply but no dice.. what is the problem? is my computer blown or do i have to get a new proccessor or motherboard?

You mean iolo anti-virus... not exactly the most popular, but I don't believe it's the cause of all your problems.
It doesn't sound like your PC is actually starting up at the moment Layzie, do you hear a beep when you turn the PC on?

Re: Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse. Unusual problem...
hmmm, most PC's will beep to indicate that it has passed the initial post test, unless the onboard speaker has been physically disconnected.
What made you think it was a RAM problem? Do you know your PC spec's, or at the very least, the make and model of your PC?

Re: Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse. Unusual problem...
well, ive read on other forums that it was a ram problem, my computer is custom built.. Asus p4p800 SE motherboard, HD2600XT video card, 2.25 GB of ram, 2 SATA hard drives, and a 700 watt powersupply, and pentium 4 processor. The speakers are plugged in, and they work properly, there is no beep comming from the computer and there never was, even when it was working properly

Re: Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse. Unusual problem...
Thanks for that Layzie.
OK. First off.
When talking about your speakers, your talking about your external computer speakers, where you play your music and things like that. What I'm talking about is your internal PC speaker. From what you have told me, that the PC has never beeped, it says to me that it is not currently attached to your motherboard. This is important, as it will identify exactly what major problems are being encountered when you first switch your PC on.
RAM is the most likely cause of certain types of Blue Screens of Death. But anything can cause a Blue Screens of Death, other faulty hardware, drivers and software. If all of these problems are related, it would definately suggest a hardware problem, CPU, Motherboard, Graphics Card or RAM. Despite your multitude of problems, we cannot narrow the problem down further as of yet. I'm not sure how reliable are the other components you have tested so far?
If you say that the monitor, keyboard and mouse does not light up, then this would suggest that the PC has not made it past it's initial post test, so we need to find out why. This means connecting your onboard speaker. Normally whatever case you buy for the PC, it will come with one, normally located at the bottom or front of the case, and connected to the following pin outs located at the bottom right hand corner of the motherboard:
If for some crazy reason, the case does not have a speaker at all, then you can purchase one from here: BSSPM1 - Internal PC Speaker Mini
Finally, can you post your PC spec's under Quick Links at the top of this page, followed by Edit Options. Any future problems you may have, we won't need to ask you for your spec's each time.

Re: Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse. Unusual problem...
yes i know the beep your talking about. I answered no that it does not beep when i start the computer, and never has WHEN i start the computer. It is plugged in right, and the speaker is right at its place. It works when i hold down multiple buttons down on my keyboard when it was working. but again no startup beep.
Could it be a computer malfunction since my computer randomly restarted when it was attempting to restore my computer to an earlier time?

Re: Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse. Unusual problem...
Well, no not really, since system restore deals with only the software side of your PC. Any problems with Windows would have affected you once you entered Windows, not from the moment you start your PC, before you even get that far. The problems with your keyboard, mouse and monitor is hardware. Also, the fact that your PC has been restarting itself would also suggest hardware, so it's a shame would could not diagnose your restarting issue problem before it got this bad. One question though, have you tested you monitor on any other PC?
If your *absolutely* certain that your PC speaker is working, then one test would be to remove all the RAM in your PC. If it beeps, then we can diagnose your problem further. If it does not beep, then either the speaker is faulty, or you have a motherboard or CPU problem, most likely CPU.
