Question Connector problem putting MB into new case

Hi guys,

Im trying to install the MB from a pc into a new case but the USB and Audio connectors dont fit.

Firstly the USB has 5 pairs of pins on the board but the connector only has 4 pairs of cable and 1 pinhole is blanked off so the connector wont fit.

The cable for the 2x front usbs has (from left to right) red>white>green>black>empty.

The MB config is attached.

I would appreciate any help on resolving this and if it IS possible i will post the similar problem with Audio.

Thanx in advance
Paul

Hello Paul and welcome to PC Help Forum..

Hey my front USB has 10 pin male and a blocked off one.On the MB there should be at least 2-3 on the board with one pin missing.
The furthest away should usaly be firewire. The one closest to front of case are for USB.
.
What make n model of motherboard do you have? Then I can judge what is up.

The board connection is uslay missing pin for USB is at top of the connection.

Audio cable usaly connects over on the left of the MB,just near your USB.Sound etc back ports.Located usaly just below this area.

Paul, the usb socket coming from front of pc has 4 wires?
It has a female connection with one port blocked off?
On MB it has USB male connector with one pin missing from the 10?
If this correct then plug the USB female connection into the MB.

The firewire connection is proberly similar.

Is that them just below were your PCI cards slots are there is 2

Then the one on the left of board 3rd PCI sllot up is for firewire.

Just above that firewire connection I think is your audio port.

Do NOT plug firewire in to a USB port.

Connections are circled in yellow

I think yr working on some wrong assumptions here, so let me make a couple of points clear.

I have the mb manual so i know which is usb and firewire.

The connectors are marked ie it says usb.

The case i took the mb from had a connector without a blocked pin hole so it fir no problem, but the new case has a different connector with a blocked pinhole.

The picture u added is not the right mb.

Paul

The picture was an example of a motherboard I did not say it was your board.

Is this your board? As I tried to get the picture to upload but could not manage it so I just used the photbucket picture as an example.

I did ask the above questions but got no reply.

Sorry if I have upset you, however I did try to get a fuller picture of the situation.

You didnt upset me m8, i was just trying to make sure we was on same page.

In answer to the question: There are 8 pairs (2x usbs) of cable going into the connector block which has 1 port blocked, however the original connector on the old case and therefore the MB pins dont have a blocked port or missing pin. This is why the connector wont fit.
