Default Motherboard Problem??? Please help

Ok I have recently built a new computer

CPU: AMD 6400+
GPU: Nvidia 8800 GTS
RAM: 2 gigs of DDR2 Corsair
MB: ASUS M2n-SLI Deluxe
PSU: Corsair 620w
HD: 75GB 10,000 rpm drive for the OS, and a 500 GB 7,200 rpm Drive for media

My problem is that the cpu seems to be in full usage when it shouldn't. Games like Starcraft make the cpu usage bump up to around 75 percent. This game was made ten years ago and should not run a brand new cpu up that bad. Having the cpu crank up so much is also creating a heating issue. Intense games like Unreal 3 are making my cpu temp go up as high a 98 degrees. I have proper cooling and although it is a high spec game i still cant help think that the hardware i have should breeze through games like that without much problems. Browsing through other forums looking for people who had this same problem I find that some people believe it to be a problem with the mother board. Some say that it needs to have the bios flashed to register great amounts of data at the proper cpu usage, but then others says that couldn't be the issue and flashing your bios risks damage to the board. Its not a problem with starcraft either i get bogged down game play out of all my games despite the fact i just recently purchased a 8800 gts card. If anyone thinks i need to flash the bios I'm not quite sure how to go about doing that. Other wise just let me know what you think is wrong and what a possible solution is. oh and also i have all the latest chip set drivers and cool and quiet drivers from Asus. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thankyou.

It would be worth trying a bois update these can fix many problems get it here ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- I would also download all the latest drivers there and install them for the mainboard. Did that make it go better?

Hi,

You are not alone: Hate ASUS Fail to verify EEPROM with new BIOS image - [H]ard|Forum - they seem to favor the floppy disk (old) method of applying flash updates to the BIOS.

Nope, unless your existing bios supports boot from USB....
