Default Sony Vaio PCV 1132: Motherboard Question.

Hi, new here, just had a little question: I recently got a new graphics card for a Sony Vaio PCV1132 yet I have been told by people that my PC has a proprietary motherboard, which prevents it in some way of upgrading components. The graphics card I got was a Radeon X1650 Pro AGP(8x) and I believe it would be compatible with my system as it does state that it has an AGP(4x/8x) slot. Well, what I am asking is would the motherboard effect the graphics performance? I also recently upgraded my ram from 1GB to 2.50 and it seems to not effect the performance whatsover, but that's a different story. If anyone can give me some advice on this issue, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I cannot find that model at Vaio support-- the page says not to use the tag on the back of the case-- but the model number on the front-- for reference-- there may be another letter of number after PCV
Sony eSupport - Electronics - Support Information

There are about 50 different models of Vaio

Well, theres apparently no sticker that lists the model number anywhere on the front case, but there is one(grey) on the back on the bottom right that lists the model (PCV-1132) and theres another sticker(white) right under the power supply that lists the P/N and the Serial#.

Default Re: Sony Vaio PCV 1132: Motherboard Question.

When I go to the support page --there's a place in the center to type in the model
--when I put in PCV-1132-- it sends me to a list of models:
PCVRZ44G
PCVRZ45G
PCVRZ46G
PCVRZ49
Any of these look familiar?
If not --if YOU go to that support page-- there's a feature to auto-scan (Vaio- only) to get your correct model.
I looked at specs for a couple of these-- I saw no indication of any proprietary slots-- on those motherboards... I have never heard of such a thing either.
Dell used to use proprietary Power Supplies-- but even they have not done that for many years
