Unhappy [Resolved] CMOS Battery Change

Hope you guys can help !

I kept getting a CMOS error message on boot-up, I searched the internet and came to the conclusion that I need to change my CMOS battery. I bought a replacement and fitted it today ...... problem now is that the screen does not even receive a signal from the computer ...... what have I done ???

The only thing I can think of is that the battery was out for approx 24hrs, does this matter, I have checked all the cables and no problems on that side.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to PCHF DazBat.

Changing the CMOS battery shouldn't cause your video signal to fail. I would triple check that you haven't dislodged anything > cables, cards etc inside the case. Do you get any evidence that the board is receiving power?

Thanks for the reply, there is a light on the motherboard so I assume that power is getting there, the fans kick in but I cannot hear the hard drives and the status light for`the hard drives in the front of the tower is amber.

I will have a good look to make sure that I have dis-lodged any connectors/cables

Cheers

It is a Time computer, about 3/4yrs old, the motherboard says 'KM18G Pro' if that helps. I have checked all the cables and all are ok, the hard drives are warm therefore power is getting to them. Thanks again

Managed to solve the problem, I had to reset the cmos by moving the jumper infront of the battery from pins 1+2 to pins 2+3 for 30 seconds then returned the jumper back to 1+2. Computer booted up just fine after that !
