Default Installing New Motherboard = Format???

I was wondering if when i install my new motherboard soon (ASUS P5K SE LGA 775 ATX Motherboard) i would have to reformat my harddrives. I had to do it last time i switch and was wondering if there was way to get around it?

Hardrive: C:200gb D:400gb E:400gb (C:Maxtor/D,E: Seagate)
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
Sound Card: Realtek High Definition Audio
Speakers/Headphone: 5.1 Philips Seakers/Logitech USB Head
Keyboard: USB Flexible Spillproof Keyboard
Mouse: Logitech USB Wheel mouse
Display: Samsung 19' Widescreen Flat Panel

Hi Adooget,
Welcome to The PCHF!!

I've had a quick look at the two boards' specs and unfortunately I don't think that you can do it. the chipsets may be too different for it to work. Sometimes you can get away with just cahnging the board and installing the drivers for the new board, but intel are famous for the varoius chipsets not being compatible.
I would back up all the data you can, change the board and fire up the system. It will either work, or not. If not then you will have to reinstall windows the long way around.

Windows setup scans your hardware configuration as the very first task upon booting form the CD...change a major element in that config and the sytem does not "recognise" the PC it is on...
