apologies if this is not the place where this should be posted but i just couldnt find the suitable forum.

when i start up my pc, it comes to the screen,
we apologize for the inconvience, windows did not start peroperly ....etc

then it gives me choices like

safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode blah blah..

your most recent configuration that worked

start windows normally

each one i click...with it has the loading bar at the bottom it goes to the end, then just freezes..anyone have any ideas?
also is it people to take bits out of my pc to put in another which will contain all my files and programs i have downloaded etc.

It sounds to me like there are some corrupted files in your Operating System. It may be the Master boot record... which can be fixed.

The simplest way is to do a repair installation-- it takes some time... but it will fix your corrupted files without losing any personal files.

ah, i dont have the windows xp setup cd, is it possible maybe buy one or something?

Please note-- you will probably have to do a full-format and install-- with a new copy...you may not be able to save all your personal files-- Are they "life and death" or "I'd like to keep them,-- but won't die" level of importance??
