I don't think it's wishful thinking. ASUS do often release BIOS updates for RAM to support all 4 modules. And it is quite a new release of motherboard, so updates are more likely. I would expect this motherboard to also be quite popular.

But then again Thing, your cursed, so they will probably release these for all makes of memory except yours!

Just trying to be realistic. 50/50 maybe?

On the other side, do you really use 4gig? My servers don't even have that much lol. I have 2gig in my PC but only because I never even use over a gig even when gaming.
As wierd as it sounds - yes, i do use four gig, more in fact , you can thank Vista for that though. even at idle it has used over 58% of it.

Besides, what use is a 64bit operating system without 4gb?, pointless imo, at least right now anyway .

I managed to sell the striker extreme motherboard, i should've trusted my gut feeling and kept my distance from it. all the hassle ive had over it is unbelievable. spread the world - Asus Striker Extreme is a load of rubbish!. you can thank Nvidia for this too and thier chipset...

Luckily, the money i made back from selling the Striker Extreme i can use to buy ANOTHER Asus Commando mobo. intill my "broken" commando is returned in working condition, or i get a new one sent to me - hopefully. cos i can sell it at retail price then, i dont want two of them after all .

I will miss the Strikers blue LED's though ....

...and unusual for an ASUS board to have so many issues... I'm sorry to hear that.

NO maker is perfect-- but I have a P4P800 deluxe-- that has been absolutely rock solid for years now.
I had wondered --when I started reading this thread-- if maybe they were making it too much of a tweakers' paradise on these boards... a couple of Gamer sites mention exactly that issue. I don't personally game enough to know myself-- but I like to see what the mad gamers world is up to-- after all ...their current stuff is what I'll be buying in a few years.

Heh, i understand what your saying.

I'm just gunna be happy to get a Commando Mobo back inside, i'll appreciate that mobo even more now after the Striker EXperience......

I was a fool really, i just should NOT have used the asus update utility, as it runs in the windows enviroment there's no telling what could cause this to happen, i'd bet i'm not the first to have been burned by it either.

I will update the BIOS the moment i get the new commando , but this time via the EZ-Flash utility - by making a bootable disk outta a CD-RW with the latest BIOS on it, at least this is what ive done with the Striker, and i'm certain the Commando has EZ-Flash too.

It's a lot safer from floppy... as long as the file is good from download. I think I tried the Windows-based utility once-- with no success.
If the file is bad--from the floppy-- it won't load -- it'll give a "bad checksum" error usually. Trouble is... the one time I did have an issue... I don't remember what I did for sure.
