The BIOS is absolutely blank by the sounds of it Thing? Resetting the BIOS would normally reset you to the motherboard's default settings, however, these default settings are also part of the BIOS that would have been purged also. There is nothing to fall back to, but like bills said, theres nothing to lose.

Dont worry about it now guys, ive brought a new Mobo - Asus Striker Extreme (and installed it, i'm using it right now! )

Its pretty cool, nightmare to install it all, more nervewracking really, hey, it cost £200!!, £50 more than what the commando cost.

I brought it because it has a removeable BIOS chip, so should i get this again, well, it should be alot easier to sort out.......

It uses a Nvidia chipset (which is why i didn't buy this mobo first, instead of the commando) i think this is because it is SLI ready...(i hope this mobo supports crossfire as well, better had for the cost..)

I ran into a problem after i installed it - when i turned on the computer, the BIOS would do its POST, then the screen would go blank, then it would start again...over, and over, and over.

I couldn't even enter the BIOS, or do anything actually, i could only see the POST on screen.

I found out its actually because of a 4th RAM stick, not a fault of the RAM itself, its just the BIOS shipped with the Striker mobo actually has a bug/glitch, which makes this happen if a 4th stick is installed.

And guess what, the only fix for it is....yep, a BIOS update. ooh the irony!

Oh, and also, because ive installed this new mobo i had to re-install vista, and now as ive done all this, i cannot Activate it because of the new hardware (so its this all over again: http://www.pchelpforum.com/windows-v...ctivation.html )

Ive decided to take advantage of this situation -- i'm gunna buy a new harddrive . Ive had my eye on the Seagate Barracuda 750gb (16mb cache) for some time, as i was touching 380gb of my current one (before i reinstalled the OS obviously)

Anyway, thanks for the help guys

Ugh. i just found out that yes, although there is a bug in the BIOS which stops the pc from booting if 4 sticks are inserted (which is sposed to be fix in the BIOS update i already have) but i'm still getting POST lockups, etc....because:

My RAM, although is on the mobo's QVL (qualified Vendors List) it WILL NOT work if all 4 slots have my "type" of ram inside it, for example, here is a picture of the QVL, with my RAM highlighted:

Notice on the right, the V's?, well my "type" of RAM does NOT have a V in the last box under C*, this basically means:

A* : Supports one module inserted in any slot as Single-channel memory configuration

B* : Supports one pair of modules inserted into eithor the blue slots or the black slots as one pair of Dual-channel memory configuration
C* : Supports 4 modules inserted into both the blue and black slots as two pairs of Dual-channel memory configuration

this is rediculous, specially as Crucial (imo) are the most popular ones out there....

Would there be any chance of this mobo EVER supporting my current RAM?, (in a future BIOS update..?) or is this just wishful thinking?.

I also think ASUS made it all very misleading - there is no way i could've found this out intill now....

ek, are you cursed thing?

I don't think it's wishful thinking. ASUS do often release BIOS updates for RAM to support all 4 modules. And it is quite a new release of motherboard, so updates are more likely. I would expect this motherboard to also be quite popular.

But then again Thing, your cursed, so they will probably release these for all makes of memory except yours!

Just trying to be realistic. 50/50 maybe?

On the other side, do you really use 4gig? My servers don't even have that much lol. I have 2gig in my PC but only because I never even use over a gig even when gaming.
