Unhappy [Resolved] Swapping motherboards

Any and all help appreciated...

To solve a Korean BIOS problem, I am considering swapping out the motherboard.
The BIOS is a EEPROM on the motherboard...Right...

I have a Korean TG Dreamsys, Model 50096939, computer with a TG Slim chassis.

The motherboard is a TriGem Computer,Inc. DREAMSYS 1.0
Motherboard ID: 63-0100-000001-00101111-032207-RS400-RC415ST-TM-Y2KC

2.80 gigahertz Intel Pentium D (2 installed)
16 kilobyte primary memory cache
1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Please. If my thinking is wrong, let me know....
Replacing the motherboard should fix the BIOS problems and allow me to swap the CPU and the memory from one motherboard to the other.

Assuming all this is doable, that leaves the question of what motherboard to go for.

What do the experts say?

The socket number of the processor must match the motherboard and also the ram must be compatable with the new board you pick..

That will work...so as long as HAL likes it or you will be calling ol Microsoft to get a new Key

As for a motherboard I always spend allot of money on motherboards.. SO I would wait or I will be linking you to 200+ montherboards..

Merlin, are you referring to the Penryn Dual Core 3.33Ghz/6MG L2 or do you have something else in mind that I don't know about that I might keep an eye out for? I've been doing some homework. However, I don't want to go to the Quads.

As for needing a new Vista key, if I swap over the C: drive, then the old Vista comes with it. Or, am I not seeing something.

Well sometimes it is a problem when swapping Hard drives to anew Mobo..

Hal (Hardware Abstraction Layer) puts the info from your current mobo and other devices in an undeletable part of windows.. So when you switch mobo's and try to boot up, your "old" hard drive and Vista will see a whole new motherbaord..And say hey wait a second this was not here before..

It easy to fix. You will have to do a reinstall but you might not have to talk to that computer "Hawkins style" voice..

As for the cpu, yes you can keep your current cpu.. I would not suggest the quads either as the price is way to far for most. I always like buying lower end cpu's like the one I have now an overclocking it to the extreme.

Thanks for clarifying about HAL...I thought you were talking about that 2001 movie computer.
