Merlin, that functionality of HAL, I wonder...When I had XP, MS is always stopping me from reactivating (reinstalling) the O/S. If the reinstall queried HAL and relayed that data to MS during activation, there should not be any problems with reactivating (starting over) over and over, because HAL would verify that the KEY was being used on the same machine as the KEY was used for the previous activation. Or, is that to deep for MS? Or, am I not seeing something?

You are correct wabeard...that is too deep for the automated MS systems...However, you can call up and just explain the situation and they'll deactivate the key and let you go nuts...

To get back to the original point, can no one recommend a mobo?
Is everybody unhappy with their mobos? I'd like to cut the 200+ mobos down to a manageable number.

First, it will be a Dual Core.
Clocking should not be less the 2.8GHz.

Does anyone know of a web site that rates their hardware by the WEI system?
Or, is it to early to expect vendors to be implementing that rating system?
I understand that software will soon be rated by the WEI.

OK you gurus...give me some constructive feedback.
I see a lot of function A is better on this board but function B is better on that board.
I don't see yet a board where function A and B are good on the same board.
So, which functionalities are the most important?
FSB? Chipsets? Is Intel really better the AMD? There are LGA771 and LGA775 sockets whatever that means. Come on guys. Inquiring minds want to know.

I would always recomend Intel boards since they are very stable, but somtimes very expensive. The below one is pretty good and do what you will want it to do. Support the cpu you are talking about..take a look

Newegg.com - Intel BOXDG965WHMKR LGA 775 Intel G965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
